i recently made a 1-10 mental illness scale for myself. I'm preparing to start looking for a therapist in the next year, hoping for someone who actually knows how to help schizophrenics and manics. in the past I've had a therapist tell me after our intake session not to contact him again because he didn't feel qualified to help me (LOL) and i haven't sought one in the years since. In doing research trying to find qualified professionals in my area, I've been able to find people who treat anorexia, any kind of trauma, personality disorder, DEMENTIA, you name it rly, but not one who outright says "I have experience treating psychosis." It's worse knowing that I have to look for someone who knows how to deal with me being chronically suicidal and actually be okay with that, without trying to force me to take drugs i don't need or calling the cops on me.
I think this can be a really helpful way to graph the warning signs and symptoms that things are gonna get better (or could get worse) and generally what to look out for. this is mine, and I have encouraged other mentally ill people to try something similar for themselves.
